The Role:

Rystad Energy is searching for an ambitious and motivated market analyst to join the team responsible for one of our core Energy Transition products - the Hydrogen Solution. The primary objective is to fortify Rystad Energy’s position as a foremost independent provider of business intelligence, data, analyses, and research pertaining to the global energy transition.

The Hydrogen Solution represents one of the fastest-growing products in Rystad Energy’s portfolio and serves as a cornerstone within the company’s Energy Transition product suite. Our Hydrogen Solution furnishes clients with comprehensive market intelligence, supporting their workflows across the entire industry value chain and the associated financial sector. Offering detailed insights into demand, supply, cost, and policies for hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, and e-fuels, Rystad Energy’s Hydrogen Solution has become a highly trusted and comprehensive tool for crafting business development strategies and conducting benchmarking workflows in the hydrogen sector.

We are seeking a high-performing and ambitious individual with strong work ethics, dedication, and drive to contribute to the further development of the Hydrogen Solution. The role encompasses coverage of the entire value chain of hydrogen amp; derivatives, from demand, supply to cost, and policy analysis, with a primary focus on the EMEA region, particularly the EU. The position requires continuous support for our regional clients and active participation in internal and external events, such as conferences, within the core area of expertise. The ideal candidate is analytical, self-driven, possesses a profound understanding of the role of Hydrogen in the global energy system, and has established industry networks and interpersonal skills.

The location for this position is flexible, and all candidates based in one of our main locations in Europe (Oslo, London, Paris, Madrid, Copenhagen) will be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and analysis on key hydrogen themes, with a particular focus on the EU region, including other end products derived from hydrogen (ammonia, methanol), and hydrogen applications in the decarbonization of industry and other hard-to-abate sectors such as transportation.
  • Develop, track, model, and maintain granular hydrogen amp; derivatives demand outlook and project databases with factual data.
  • Monitor incentives, support schemes, targets, and carbon regulations for clean hydrogen in the EU and analyze the impact of legislation on demand and supply balance, as well as potential trade flows of hydrogen and derivative products into Europe.
  • Support regional clients, represent Rystad Energy, and communicate our research on Hydrogen and related topics to regional companies and industries. Regular engagement with industries resulting in tangible research insights is crucial.
  • Collaborate closely with the local commercial team to support commercial activities.
  • Communicate and coordinate with the global Hydrogen research team, as well as other key products and stakeholders within the region.
  • Produce research notes and reports on Hydrogen topics based on Rystad Energy analysis, with a strong focus on relevant topics for the EU region, potentially extending to the MENA region.
  • Contribute to management consulting projects within the energy transition area on an ad-hoc basis.

Experience and Skills:

  • Strong academic track record, high level of energy, determination, and analytical ability.
  • Master’s degree or higher within Energy, Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or similar.
  • 3-5 years of relevant working experience within hydrogen amp; derivatives, particularly in areas such as applications, technology, energy value chains, and decarbonization. Candidates with previous experience in the general energy industry or energy research sector will also be considered.
  • Good understanding of European energy transition strategy and hydrogen policies, as well as knowledge of macro energy market fundamentals.
  • Personally motivated and passionate about the energy transition.
  • Good grasp of decarbonization fundamentals and its drivers from both sustainability and economic points of view.
