Strise is on the hunt for a skilled Backend Developer with expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and an interest in AI technologies to strengthen our team of software engineers. You will be responsible for designing and implementing backend solutions bringing our pioneering AML platform to the global market. As part of our tech team, you will work closely with our design and product team to take our products to the next level in scale, performance, and customer value. Going out of your comfort zone to explore a new idea, testing a new library, or simply giving a facelift to an old module, will all be part of your job. Your contributions will be crucial in our journey to leverage GCP and AI to set new industry standards, ensuring that Strise continues to lead with future-ready products in the fight against financial crime.

This position is based in Oslo, Norway.
Strise has an HQ in Oslo and an office in London.
Some technologies we use:
- All of Strise runs in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- For our backend services, Scala is the main programming language. But we also occasionally use Python.
- We use gRPC and Google Pub/Sub to communicate between services.
- For external communication, we opt for GraphQL.
- Our services typically run in Kubernetes (GKE), but we’re also exploring a move towards a more serverless setup with Cloud Run.
- All of our infrastructure is Terraformed.
- One of our tech beliefs that we put a lot of emphasis on is to make as much of tech as someone else's problem by introducing managed services. We are heavy users of GCP native offerings such as Vertex AI, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Cloud Pub/Sub, etc.
- However, we’ve also committed to a few other technologies such as Neo4j and Elasticsearch.
What you will do:
- Design, develop, and maintain highly secure backend systems using advanced technologies, focusing on GCP'S, Scala, along with GraphQL, Neo4j, Elasticsearch, and close engagement with AI technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and QA, to ensure and shape the delivery of high-quality software.
- Take a proactive approach to breaking down projects into individual tasks and provide valuable contributions so projects are delivered on time.
- Stand at the forefront of the rapidly evolving technological world, setting trends and pioneering shifts.
- Stay updated with burgeoning technologies, successful practices, and advancements in AI, including LLMs.
- Shape system development with efficient, scalable, and innovative code.
- Contribute to the overall architecture and design of the systems, and help identify and implement best practices for software development.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in software development, with a focus on GCP.
- Excellent skills and a few years of experience within one or more of the following technologies GCP, GraphQL, Neo4j, Elasticsearch, Terraform, Kubernetes, Scala, Security practices in backend development, and advanced AI/ML technologies like Vertex AI, Langchain, HuggingFace, and MLOps.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- You enjoy working with an evolving product in a scale-up environment and are motivated by testing out new ideas and finding new solutions. Prior experience from a start-up/scale-up is a plus.
