Job Description

Rystad Energy is seeking an ambitious, analytical and detail-oriented individual to lead our global subsea research. We are seeking a candidate with great interest in the offshore market, who wants to excel in data analysis, market research, public speaking, and client engagement. The ideal candidate will have a passion for analyzing complex energy markets using data and statistical analysis, have an internal drive for building and innovating unique databases and reports, a desire to stay in touch with market participants across the supply chain, operators, and financial community to fully understand the market and to drive business growth. We are looking for a candidate with a strong academic track record and a background from either working in the subsea industry or from working as a market analyst from either an oilfield services company, consultancy, financial institution or Oamp;G operator.

The candidate is expected to be a self-starter and conduct data analysis and market research with minimal supervision, sometimes under tight deadlines, but also work in close collaboration with the broader team on different projects. This role will also be client-facing, and successful candidates are expected to present findings from market research and analysis at client sites, industry or Rystad Energy events.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the company’s subsea research
  • Cover the different equipment markets: SURF, subsea trees, interconnector cables etc.
  • Gather, process, analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources
  • Track capacity, supply and demand from operators and subsea suppliers
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize data collection and processing workflows
  • Develop new forecast models and processes to analyze our data
  • Contribute to and write client commentaries and reports
  • Participate in external and internal presentations
  • Contribute to sales and business development
  • Engage with clients to demonstrate our research and analyses
  • Maintain and expand the network of primary intelligence sources in the oil and gas industry and the wider energy industry
  • Travel when needed for research trips, client engagement, and business development support

Experience amp; Skills

  • 0-5 years of relevant experience in an oilfield service company, consultancy financial institution or Oamp;G operator
  • Knowledge and genuine interest in the Oamp;G market, and preferably a deeper knowledge in the subsea supply chain
  • Ability to conduct market sizing and forecasting analysis for service marketsalong with supply and pricing drivers
  • Strong academic track record in relevant education field (e.g. marine engineering, mechanical engineering, finance, data science)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on attitude
  • Self-motivated, proactive and independent as well as a strong team player
  • Outstanding ability to synthesize data and information coming from multiple sources (quantitative and qualitative)
  • Desire to work with both the technical and financial aspects of the energy market
  • Fluent in English; other languages are a plus
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficiency with data handling and presentation tools such as Power Point, Excel, Power BI, SQL and Python
  • Ability to present and defend market views and research at public events or client sites
