About the team

Cognite’s Legal team is responsible of providing legal advice to all of company’s business and corporate activities as well as handling the corporate compliance function. To support the growth of Cognite we are seeking to strengthen the legal team and are looking to hire a Legal Counsel located in Oslo that will report directly to Cognite’s Head of Legal.

Focus Area

The role will entail providing legal assistance related to Cognite’s overall activities with the main focus on:

  • Contracts
  • Compliance (Privacy, GDPR)
Some of the main responsibilities will be:
  • Prepare, draft and negotiate various types of contractual documents
  • Working with legal tech tools to automate the legal department
  • Participate in tender preparations, clarifications and negotiations
  • Provide legal support related to follow up and handling of all contracts
  • Specify internal governance policies and make sure the company complies with governance polices and regularly monitor compliance
  • Deal with complex commercial and business matters
We are looking for someone with the following background:
  • Master's degree in Law
  • Minimum 3 years relevant legal experience (in-house legal department, private law firm or relevant authorities), preferably from the technology field
  • In depth experience with contract drafting and negotiations with respect to IT contracts, services contracts, license contracts etc.
  • Practical and commercial mindset
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, often with tight deadlines, with understanding of the legal in-house role
  • Positive attitude
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Fluent in English
