Job Description

We are looking for a Lead Developer for one of our feature teams. We are looking for someone who wants to work both hands-on and strategic.

Challenge the industry, challenge yourself.

Working at Klaveness Digital means getting the best of both worlds: a fast-moving technology company backed by an established shipowner with a long tradition of innovation. Our mission is to bring shipping and logistics into the future by optimizing our Fortune 500 customers’ maritime supply chains through bleeding edge technology with the ultimate goal of having a positive impact on our customers costs, risks and CO2 emissions. With?great ambitions for Klaveness Digital and our flagship product?CargoValue?we are expanding our tech organization!

About the role:

We are looking for a Lead Developer to our development team. You will get the opportunity to create and develop exciting and forward-thinking solutions to enable the shipping industry to move into a digitalized future.

Your main responsibility is to develop applications as a member one of our stream aligned teams. In addition, you will lead a team of developers, contribute to their growth and working closely with our Product Managers to make sure our products are up to speed. The stream aligned teams work closely with the business to develop and maintain our application portfolio.

Klaveness Digital works and acts as a start-up, therefore you will be entitled and trusted with a wide range of tasks. Developing, managing, architecting and coding will be part of your daily routine and traditional specifications are nowhere to be found.

How we work:

The Klaveness Digital team is technology agnostic, but fancy functional versus OOP, open over closed source, managed cloud services over ‘bare metal’ and keeps testing and security close to our heart. We utilize a range of different languages, frameworks and tools. Some examples are React, Redux and the obvious HTML/CSS/JavaScript trio. Microservices are mostly written in Scala by using libraries such as http4s, doobie and cats-effects (No worries, we will teach you). All services and processes are deployed to one of our cloud-based Kubernetes clusters by the developers via GitLab pipelines.

The team process is modern. We pick and choose from the methodologies that fit our problems and team size. We run sprints, stand-up and retros as we speak, but we are continuously bending the format. The process may not look like the same next month. The most important to us is that the process methodology is not generating a large overhead and that there are plenty of room for feedback from the team members.

This might be you:

  • BSc., MSc., or relevant project references
  • 5 - 10 years of experience, both hands-on and lead experience
  • A drive to develop your current, and learn new skills
  • Good communication skills, ability to communicate with the development team as well as with the commercial team in the company
  • Experience within the Java ecosystem, beneficially Scala, and/or experience with JavaScript and React
  • Experience with building APIs for single-page application or building React applications

Not sure you meet 100% of the criteria? Apply anyway, we have a strong culture of internal growth!

We offer:

  • You will be a part of a highly-skilled, inspiring, and supportive team, and work in an environment that encourages long term personal growth. We value flexibility and a trust-based work environment.
  • A healthy work-life balance. A balance in life is important to us, and we accommodate flexible work hours that allow for having a healthy work-life balance. We believe in flexible working hours and offer the possibility to work from home when needed.
  • You will have a real opportunity for impact, both within our industry and on our product development
  • A competitive compensation package
  • We have a castle in Hafjell which is great for skiing, and a mansion in Spain great for relaxing
  • A great cantina and really good coffee

Does this sound like a great opportunity to you, apply or react out to Nora Aagaard at
