About the team

Cognite’s Legal team is responsible for providing legal advice to all of the company’s business and corporate activities as well as handling the corporate compliance function. To support the growth of Cognite we are seeking to strengthen the legal team and are looking to hire a Compliance Officer located in Oslo that will report directly to Cognite’s General Counsel.

Focus Area

The role will entail providing legal assistance related to Cognite’s overall activities with the main focus on:

  • Manage the design and monitoring of Business Integrity
  • Safeguard that Cognite complies with its outside regulatory and legal requirements as well as internal policies
  • Privacy, GDPR


Some of the main responsibilities will be:

  • Working with legal tech tools to automate the legal department
  • Specify internal governance policies and make sure the company complies with governance policies and regularly monitor compliance
  • Provide direction for, review and recommend approval of Business Integrity and Compliance plans, ensuring alignment between the various teams at Cognite
  • Document and report findings from assessments and incidents to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner with plans for improvement and monitoring of corrective actions
  • Maintain and communicate the Code of Conduct, the Anti-Corruption Policy, the Third Party Representative Policy, GDPR Policy etc.
  • Compliance training
  • Obtain and redistribute KPI’s within compliance
  • Annually review corporate responsibility and ensure compliance with legal requirements and internationally recognized reporting guidelines


We are looking for someone with the following background:

  • Master's degree in Law
  • Minimum 3 years relevant legal experience (in-house legal department, private law firm or relevant authorities), preferably from the technology field
  • In depth experience with working with compliance
  • Practical and commercial mindset
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, often with tight deadlines, with understanding of the legal in-house role
  • Positive attitude
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Fluent in English
