Job Description
Location: Europe, remote
This is a freelance position requiring roughly 20 hours per week, with the potential to develop into a full-time in-house position.
We’re a Norwegian design-tech startup working to make the web a more beautiful place. Our web creation platform is already helping professionals publish their wildest ideas on the web with complete creative and technical freedom. With ambitious growth goals, we’re now looking for a talented Junior Designer.
As a Junior Designer, you will be a visual thinker who can help us solve problems with hands-on skills and creative problem solving. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of graphic design principles and design thinking. Reporting to the Creative Director, you will work as part of the in-house creative team to create engaging designs according to requirements. In this role, you should be highly creative and have a sharp eye for details. If you’re passionate about design and eager to learn more, we’d like to meet you.
- Create impactful designs that capture and promote the Vev vision
- Understand project requirements and concepts
- Understand and follow the requirements of Vev’s brand identity
- Create dynamic and engaging websites and various landing pages in Vev
- Use various techniques to produce drafts, prototypes and engaging design solutions
- Listen to feedback to hone skills and improve design
- Collaborate with other designers and team members to launch projects and ensure high-quality work
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in the creative industry, or equivalent
- BFA/BA in Design or a related field
- Experience with design software (i.e. Adobe CC, Figma)
- Familiarity with design techniques and a strong understanding of visual elements and design principles
- Teamwork and communication skills
- A keen eye for detail
- Time management and multitasking abilities
- Critical thinker with creativity skills and problem-solving aptitude
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth business environment
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently
- Fluent English speaker
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Familiarity with web design space, HTML, and CSS
- Good understanding of web design principles
- Experience with Vev or alternative website platforms
- Familiarity with video editing or motion graphics
